Marine Protected Area Punta Campanella
The protection area is about 1,539 hectares and stretches along a coastline of about 30 km.The mission of this entity is to protect the sea and to spread its culture in every aspect.
In addition, the authority has the very difficult task of regulating the commercial use of an area of great touristic interest, surveying, training and educating on environmental culture the entrepreneurs and workers who operate along this paradisiacal coastline .
The entire area is subdivided into zones with different levels of protection and regulations, from zones ‘A’ with total protection, to zones ‘C’ with monitored recreational and commercial use. The entire area offers a crystal-clear sea and magnificent seabed.
Marine adventures in a protected paradise
All boats sailing within the Marine Protected Area must comply with specific rules and eco-friendly characteristics.
Particular attention is paid to the protection of the oceanica Posidonia meadows, an extremely important marine plant for the production of oxygen. For the protection of Posidonia and the seabed in general, buoy fields compatible with the marine environment have been established and anchoring in specific areas has been regulated.
The fully protected ‘A’ zones facilitate the nourishment of local endemic species that multiply and reproduce within them undisturbed by human activity.
