Amalfi tour guide

Amalfi is a small corner of paradise nestled in the beautiful sea of Campania region

This rocky coast, invaded by vegetation and populated by ancient fishermen villages that have become over time tourist destinations, is still one of the main attractions of Italy. The name of this town has been famous for some time, not only because the Romans already spent their holidays there but also because during the Middle Ages it was home to one of the prestigious Maritime Republics of Italy. And what better way to discover a Maritime Republic if not… from the sea?

What to see in Amalfi

What to see in Amalfi

No trip is ever wasted if the destination is the Amalfi Coast and especially the town that is its centre, Amalfi.

The former Maritime Republic of Amalfi will welcome you with its delightful marina. Once landed, you can head towards the historic centre, naturally all uphill! But it’s worth it to admire monuments of rare beauty.

Starting from the Cathedral of Sant’Andrea, a splendid building dating back to the year one thousand which originally had even six naves. The exterior façade skillfully mixes the Moorish style, with black and white stone, and the Baroque style. The baroque expresses itself better in the richness of the details and in the beauty of the paintings and frescoes inside. Also worth seeing is the 13th century church and convent of Sant’Antonio with interiors reworked in the 17th century and therefore also in Baroque style.

There are many churches in Amalfi (San Nicola, Madonna del Rosario, Madonna del Pino, San Lorenzo) but there are also noteworthy secular architectures: defense towers like Torre Saracena, Torre Tabor, Torre dello Ziro, Torre Pogerola and, outside the town, the path of the Valle dei Mulini with the Museum of Paper.

The coastal strip south of Sorrento, going from Positano to Vietri sul Mare, has become one of the most desirable tourist destinations in the world in less than two centuries. It was already known to the Romans who often came here to spend their holidays, but modern tourism has rediscovered it at the end of the 19th century and has elected it as a real paradise on Earth!

Not so much, and not only, for the wonderful weather all year long, but also for the clean sea and the romantic beaches and for the conformation of the territory itself. The small villages clinging to the rock, between the green of the Mediterranean bush and the beaches, preserve that ancient and magical atmosphere of the Middle Ages while vibrating with new exotic notes.

Towns like Amalfi, Ravello, Maiori, Minori, Praiano and Positano compete with other nice places on the surrounding hills (Scala, Corbara, Pimonte and Tramonti) in terms of beauty and to admire all of them from the sea is a great experience that only a few lucky tourists can live. Will you be one of them? Here is your chance!

To Amalfi on board of our yachts

If you are on holiday in one of the towns of the Sorrentine Peninsula or the Gulf of Naples, or if you are already on the Amalfi Coast, you can book with us a visit to Amalfi by yacht. Our yachts are the ideal boats to visit these places in all serenity, served and pampered, with the possibility to have lunch or dinner on board.

Our departures can be booked in all the territory that goes from the Gulf of Naples, including the islands, to the Amalfi Coast in order to avoid the stress of traveling by land or renting small and uncomfortable boats.

Leaving from the main tourist resorts of the Gulf of Naples, the Sorrentine Peninsula and the Amalfi Coast, our yachts will sail a short distance from the coast so that you can admire from the sea the scenery of the towns reflecting on the water of the Tyrrhenian Sea.

You will see mysterious and protected coves, islets of tuff that defy the waves, beautiful gardens overlooking the sea.

Impossible not to love Positano, where you will have the possibility to stop and admire its splendid churches and defensive towers (tower of Sponda, of Trasita, of Fornillo) that tell a past of assaults and conquests.

During the yacht tour along the Amalfi Coast, you can also stop in Amalfi to visit this town of a glorious past, whose Cathedral (dating back to the 9th century) with its marvelous Moorish façade is the main treasure. They are not too large, so they can approach the marine protected areas without any risk to cross the borders.
